Melbourne House Surgery

How Do I...
Make An Appointment?

Appointments may be booked by telephoning 01245 354370 or by calling personally at the surgery. 30% of appointments can be pre-booked up to two weeks in advance. All other appointments are booked on the day. Most nurse appointments are pre-booked. A normal appointment is for 10 minutes and is intended for one person. Please make a separate appointment for each person to be seen. If you feel that you need more time please ask for a double appointment.

There is no restriction as to whom you see in the practice as the doctors provide cover for each other in their absence.

If all the same-day appointments have been booked and you feel that you have a medical problem needing urgent attention, you will be referred to a doctor who will assess your condition and either give telephone advice or arrange for you to be seen that day; you will not necessarily be seen by the doctor of your choice. Please telephone before 10.00am where possible.

The doctors and nurses do their best to keep to time but illness is not always predictable and unforeseen events may cause us to run late. Our receptionists will keep you informed of any delays.

Cancelling Appointments

If you cannot attend any booked appointment please let us know as soon as possible. We can offer the appointment to someone else rather than it be wasted.

How Do I...
Obtain A Home Visit?

Patients are requested to telephone before 11.00am if a visit is required that day. The receptionist will take some brief details and the doctor may telephone to make arrangements to visit. A home visit will only be provided if your condition prevents you from travelling to the surgery.

How Do I...
Obtain Test Results?

Test results take time to reach us, so please telephone when you have been told to do so. Please telephone after 10.00am on weekdays. Enquiries about tests ordered by the hospital should be directed to the hospital.

How Do I...
Obtain Telephone Advice?

If you need advice or feel that you need to discuss your symptoms with a doctor or practice nurse, please ask the receptionist.
